Brownies....

The other day I helped Miles make brownies... First we had to go back a get some eggs...

Ingredients:
2/3 cup butter 1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon water 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
2 eggs 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (definitely optional!)
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, water and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and beat just until blended. Course usually we just put everything together in the bowl and mix.

Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if desired.

Scrape out onto a pan...

or if that is too hard, turn the bowl over and try pounding it out! =) This is actually a recipe for cookies, but we make them into brownies...we use a 11x16 pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 7-9 minutes; do NOT overbake. =) No need to cool them...eat them hot out of the oven with some milk!
